Vehicle Requirements

  • Sturdy Hitch with a 2 inch ball.
  • Functioning Trailer light wiring with a flat 4 pin connector.
  • Vehicle with at least 2000lb towing capacity.

Driver Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Driver’s abstract.
  • Current vehicle insurance.
  • Attend our 30 minute driver orientation.

I’m driving to Edmonton next week, how do I book a trailer?

Download the Hitchmail (Driver) app then create a profile. You will then be able to scroll down a page listing all the available trips and book them right from the app.

How do I know where to get the trailers?

The Hitchmail Driver app shows the starting and ending times/locations for each trailer.

Once I arrive at my destination city, where do I leave the trailer?

The Hitchmail Driver app tells you all the location information for each trip. You can see this before you book the trip.

How big are the trailers and how much do they weigh?

The trailers are either 4x6’ or 5x8’ and weigh between 1000-3000 lb

Do I need to load and unload the trailers?

No, the trailer will be locked with a security seal and you never do any loading or unloading. Your only job is to tow it from the starting point to the ending point.

What happens if I get a flat tire or other mechanical problem during my trip?

Hitchmail provides roadside assistance on all our routes. Our tow truck drivers can replace a blown tire or even load your vehicle onto a flat deck truck and tow the trailer behind. We got you covered.

Can I see what’s in the trailer before starting my trip?

No, the trailer will be locked with a tamper proof security seal during your whole trip.

Do I need a commercial driver’s license?

No, a standard driver’s license is all we require.
